Straight answers about what TachMinder does, who it's for, and how it works.
What is TachMinder?
TachMinder is an AI-powered aircraft maintenance tracking app built for general aviation pilots flying under FAA Part 91. It tracks recurring maintenance, monitors Airworthiness Directive (AD) compliance, sends smart reminders before inspections come due, and includes an AI maintenance advisor you can ask questions in plain English.
Does TachMinder track both tach time and Hobbs time?
Yes. TachMinder tracks both tach time (engine RPM-adjusted time) and Hobbs time (clock time) separately. Maintenance items can be set to come due by tach hours, Hobbs hours, or calendar date — so you always know exactly when something is due.
Is TachMinder a substitute for my A&P mechanic?
No. TachMinder is an informational tool that helps you stay organized and informed — it is not a substitute for a certified A&P mechanic or IA. Only certificated mechanics can approve return-to-service. TachMinder helps you track what's due and prepare for shop visits.
How much does TachMinder cost?
TachMinder has separate plans for aircraft owners and maintenance providers. Owner plans: Pilot is $24/month (1 aircraft, full AI features) and Partnership is $34/month (up to 3 aircraft, shared co-owner access). Provider plans: Free tier, A&P Pro at $49/month, and Shop at $99/month. All paid plans include a 14-day free trial, and annual billing saves you 2 months.
Are safety features locked behind a paywall?
Never. Safety-critical information like overdue ADs or lapsed inspections is visible to every TachMinder user regardless of their subscription tier. Safety features are never gated.
Can my A&P mechanic use TachMinder too?
Yes. TachMinder has a dedicated provider experience for A&P mechanics and maintenance shops. Providers can link to your aircraft, submit maintenance completions, log squawks, and push updates — all of which go through an approval queue so nothing touches your record without your explicit acceptance.
