Working with your mechanic in TachMinder
TachMinder is built as a shared workspace: you and your mechanic already have a working relationship in the real world, and linking in the app means you're both looking at the same aircraft record instead of trading phone calls and photocopied logbook pages. Here's how the link works and what flows across it.
Getting linked
Invite from Dashboard → Providers
Invite your mechanic or shop by email. If they're not on TachMinder yet, they get an invitation email, and the link completes when they join and accept.Or approve their request
Mechanics can also request access to your tail number from their side. Pending requests show as a badge in your sidebar — you approve or decline each one.Revoke any time
Access is yours to grant and yours to take back. Revoked links aren't erased — they're kept in History, so the record of who had access when survives.
What a linked mechanic sees — and doesn't
A linked mechanic sees the aircraft's maintenance history, service schedules, ADs, squawks, and times — everything they need to show up prepared. They do not see your cost or billing data. The link shares the airplane's story, not your wallet.
What they submit, and how you stay in control
Linked mechanics can submit completed-work records, squawks they found during an inspection, and full logbook entries. None of it lands in your record directly — everything arrives in Dashboard → Submissions for your review, and you accept or decline per item, with a reason when you decline. If a submission conflicts with your current records — a different tach time, say — the app warns you before you accept. Accepted work records carry the mechanic's certificate details; see Who signs what for why those details matter.
Conversations and interval proposals
You can message linked mechanics in the Service section, and a conversation can be anchored to a specific maintenance item, squawk, or AD so the discussion stays attached to the thing it's about. Messages are attributed to whoever sent them — and they are not signoffs. Mechanics can also propose changes to your service intervals, which you approve or decline from the Service Schedule page; see Service Schedule.
TachMinder is an informational tool only. It is not a substitute for a certified A&P mechanic or IA. Only certificated mechanics and appropriately rated repair stations can approve return-to-service. Always verify Airworthiness Directive data with the FAA AD database (drs.faa.gov). TachMinder does not certify airworthiness.
