Getting started

Finding your way around the dashboard

TachMinder keeps navigation simple: one sidebar on the left, and most of what you'll actually use lives as tabs on your aircraft's page. Here's the lay of the land so nothing feels hidden.

Where you land

Signing in takes you to My Aircraft — your fleet at a glance. From there, selecting an aircraft opens its page, which is where most of your time in the app is spent.

The left sidebar

The sidebar has two parts:

  • The aircraft block at the top holds the one aircraft selector for the whole app. Switch aircraft here and the app follows you — if you're on the Maintenance tab of one tail and switch to another, you land on the Maintenance tab of the new tail. There isn't a second selector buried somewhere else; this is the one.
  • Global items below it: Notifications, Providers (the mechanics and shops connected to your aircraft), Service (your conversations with them), Ask TachMinder, and Settings.

Sidebar badges keep score for you: one shows unread notifications, and another shows pending mechanic requests waiting on your answer.

The aircraft page and its tabs

Everything about a single aircraft is organized as tabs on its page, grouped by what kind of question you're asking:

  • Record — things you log: flights, hours, logbook entries, documents.
  • Health — how the engine is trending over time.
  • Compliance — ADs and the legal-to-fly picture.

The tabs and pages themselves: General, Maintenance, Service Schedule, Timeline, Compliance, Hours Tracking, Logbook, Equipment, AD Research, Engine Health, Trends, and Pre-Visit Summary. You don't need to memorize them — the grouping means you can usually guess where something lives on the first try.

The aircraft header: your times, with receipts

At the top of every aircraft page, the header always shows the current Tach and Hobbs times. Next to each is an ⓘ that explains where that number came from — a flight you logged, a logbook entry, or a manual update. No mystery numbers: you can always trace a displayed time back to its source. (If the difference between tach and Hobbs is fuzzy, the tach time vs. Hobbs time guide sorts it out.)

A quick first-session tour

  1. Pick your aircraft

Use the selector at the top of the sidebar. Everything you see from here on is scoped to that tail.

  2. Scan the header

Check the Tach and Hobbs figures and tap the ⓘ next to each to see where they came from. If they're stale, updating them is the highest-value thing you can do first.

  3. Walk the three groups

Open Maintenance (Record), Engine Health (Health), and Compliance (Compliance) to see what TachMinder already knows about your aircraft and what it's watching for you.

  4. Check your badges

Unread notifications and pending mechanic requests show as badges in the sidebar — clear them and you're current.

From here, good next reads are logging flights and managing maintenance and squawks.
